Happy 22nd Birthday, Boyfriend! ♥

Saturday, August 29, 2009

My Friday was a blast!

Reason 1: I got off work at 2pm and went for some demonstration with my colleagues which ended an hour earlier than my usual knock off timing on Fridays.

Reason 2: Went for a mani/pedi session with Val and prior to that, we had a kick-ass dinner at Quiznos Sub! Bye Subway, HELLO QUIZNOS!

My '4 Chili Chicken with Bacon' sandwich.

Unlike Subway, you don't get to select what vegetables and sauces you want to go into your sandwich. At Quiznos, they have many delicious sounding sandwiches for you to choose from and the only thing you get to select is whether you want to have white or wheat bread.

I chose wheat bread, and boy was it toasted to perfection! Crispy enough, yet retaining the softness and moisture of the bread. And I really like the fact that the sandwich was stuffed full of ingredients! The serving of chicken was so generous that chicken pieces kept falling out of my sandwich as I ate. =) I was stuffed at around the 3/4 mark, so I packed the remaining home for supper. Hah!

I will definitely be back, and even made a pact with Val that whenever we go for our mani/pedi, we'd have this for dinner. A pity that they only have one outlet, which is at Orchard Central. Please branch out soon and have one at AMKHub, I promise to patronise at least once a week!

Reason 3: We met up with Sus after her lesson ended and after we were done with our mani/pedi. And we made our way to Indochine.

Ah yes, alcohol and fried stuff just a week prior to my operation, I'm asking for trouble. Fine, I'll start detoxing from today. LOL!

Sus, me, Val

We will be hitting Dempsey after I recover, I can't wait! =)

On the way to work earlier this morning, Dad passed me a letter that came in yesterday. When I saw the neat writings on the envelope, I immediately knew who it was from.

Deb's neat handwriting with my address "swirled" away by me.

No babe, I didn't water your envelope to deliberately smudge my address. It is still nice and clean, just the way you posted it. =)

The day Debs left for Sydney (yet again), was the day I received the letter (though it was only passed to me the following morning). A big wide smile was plastered on my face as I read the card, and when I re-read it, my Dad teased me about how I can't stop reading it. It is really amazing how an old-fashioned method of communication can brighten up one's day.

In a nutshell, the context of the card was of Debs wishing me strength and courage to go through the operation and would have very much wanted to visit me had she not have to leave for Sydney so suddenly. This card, so simple yet so heart-warming, was more than enough to replace her absence of visit. No words can describe how I feel towards this gesture of hers.

I am very blessed to have a friend like her. A friend whom despite having minimal contact over the last half decade, can still hit it off with me and continue the friendship where we left off. =) Thank you babe.

Of course, there are still a number of friends who share the same situation as Debs and I. Not always in contact, but definitely always there when whoever is in need. You guys know who you are. I love you people. =)

So, my pre-operation assessment went well today. Heart rate, blood pressure, height and weight were all good, though they were leaning towards the lower end but the Doctor said that it is normal and okay since I'm "a very small girl" as she put it. I can't possibly make myself look any bigger when I'm vertically challenged at a pathetic 153cm.

4 tubes of blood was drawn from me and it took ages for those tubes to be filled because according to the Nurse, my veins were too fine. -_- And my arm was so numb thereafter! Right, so I'm fit for the operation which will be in a week's time. This is getting quite scary now.

After the appointment, Mom and I walked around Novena, and as usual, she bought me various food stuffs.

Yami Yoghurt - Rambutan flavour

I had Yami Yoghurt, just because I felt like it. And of course Mom was more than happy to let me indulge. =)

Bread rolls from Mama Bakery + Guacamole

I'm going to have a bread face very soon, but I do not care. Anyway, because Mom and I love avocado, she bought us a bottle of Guacamole! YUM! Thanks Mom! =)

I've always been a bread person, so throw me a sandwich over a bowl of noodles/pasta and I'll happily wolf it down. =)

I was out with my parents yesterday and along with a lot of other food stuff we bagged home, Mom bought me Ciabatta bread rolls. Because I'm such a pig that I tend to sleep in over the weekends (due to the fact that I sleep around 4-7am), I had brunch at 2pm!

Awsome goodness in a sandwich!

Ciabatta + Cheese + Lettuce + Shimeiji Mushrooms + Honey Mustard = A stomach full of dancing goodness and happiness!

I'm totally stuffed, but everything is still in check, which is good! =)

Earlier this afternoon, Danping tagged me in a picture in Facebook and when I opened it, I almost rolled off my office chair and died laughing.

I know this is a badly taken picture, but you cannot really blame a 12 year old kid. This was when we were 12, taken in the old RGPS hall. Oh how I miss the old school compound.

I was round, and I still am. GAHHH!

Last night, I dreamt that Sparky came back home safe and sound, and he still smelled surprisingly good despite roaming the streets for about 2 months now.

So far, our advertisements have gone unanswered, but we're still hoping for a miracle for his return some day. I miss that little guy. =(

I went on a Go Natural bars shopping spree after work today and I bought 6 Yoghurt Almond & Apricot bars, 6 assorted flavours from the Superfoods range, and 3 assorted flavours from the Indulgence range. Although these bars don't come cheap, I love how delicious they taste, and I'm definitely one happy nut!!!

Oh, and Happy 30th Month darling. ♥

I just received the pictures taken by the professional photographer at HNF's Staff & Volunteers' Appreciation Night dinner. And I must applaud him for this awesome picture! Nicely taken, and it totally accentuates my fat face. LOL!

Because my laptop crashed on Sunday night and I had no source of entertainment on Monday considering that it was a public holiday, I accompanied Daddykins to Plaza Singapura. But honestly, I would have done so even if nothing happened to my laptop.

Little did I know that I was in for a treat! We went to Carrefour and I got myself Nature's Path flavoured organic oatmeal. At the express cashier where only cash transaction is available, Dad paid first because I had no cash on hand, which he later said a return is not required! Thank you Daddy, for the oatmeal!!! =)

I tried 1 of the 4 flavours today and I was extremely pleased. =)

This was really good! I absolutely dig the hint of cinnamon which was infused into the steel cut oats! I'm totally looking forward to the other 3 flavours, especially Maple Nut!

And as if 2 bottles of PB isn't already enough, I got 2 more yesterday.

I now have Peter Pan's Honey Roasted PB! Even Jolly is rejoicing and liking my PB stash! =D

First up, Happy 44th Birthday Singapore!

Family and close friends know how big a thing I have for peanut butter, and if my memory serves me right, NJ4 actually called me Peanut Butter Monster back when we were just friends, and it was all because of this. (Please pardon my typing style, it was those days you see.)

It has been a month of 2 since I finished my bottle of PB, so last Friday I got myself 2 bottles, just so to satisfy my need to ingest some PB.

Normally, I would go for Peter Pan's Honey Roasted PB, but because the supermarket I went to did not carry it, I settled for Skippy which paled in comparison in my opinion. I'd still choose Peter Pan anytime!

However, Skippy's PB + Grape Stripes was so good that I worked my way through half the bottle already. =X

Okay, I know I just bought it on Friday and today is only Sunday. I love PB and I didn't earn the name PB Monster for nothing, so quit looking at me funnily already! LOL!

Anyway, I just cooked myself some oatmeal and dunked 2 huge dollops of PBJ, and the outcome was a pretty sight!

YUMMERS! I can have this for breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day! But no, I won't. I don't want to get sick of this concoction so soon (which I doubt I actually will).

Ok, I'm going to plonk myself infront of the television and wait for the National Day Parade to be aired, while I savour my PBJ oatmeal. =D

After using a prepaid line in Australia for almost a month, my love went to sign a line with 2 years contract and got himself an iPhone 3GS with it. Because the monthly subscription is the same no matter what phone one gets, the price of the iPhone 3GS effectively only cost him A$120.

And then he had to show it off to me... !@#$%

His spanking new white iPhone 3GS

And as if that wasn't enough to make me go so green with envy that I swear I was greener than the colour of algae, he had to show me some functions (which would be totally useless to me but still made me very envious nonetheless).

Some compass function.

BAHHH, let me strangle you please NJ4!

Yesterday, 4th of August, HNF had the "Staff & Volunteers Appreciation Night in conjunction with Nurses' Day Celebration". Coincidentally, 4th of August also marked my 1st anniversary with HNF.

Anyway, the theme for our dinner was Peranakan/Batik, and being in the organizing committee (again for the second time), a sense of achievement and happiness washed over us as we saw 95% of the staff abide to the theme.

My role in the committee was to do up decorations and such, and being the lightest and most agile of the deco team, I was tasked to challenge myself vertically and climb up and down like a monkey to pin up the batiks and other decorations.

My favourite wall!

So there you go, all the decorations were pinned up by yours truly, of course with the help of my colleagues passing the decorations to me and ensuring I don't trip and topple over like humpty dumpty. And yes, my favourite wall's deco was pinned very high up. I practically stretched like a cat and that gave my muscles a very good work out!

With the HR ladies, Felicia & Cindy.

Nurse of the Year, Sister Tan Peck Geok!!!

The crowd during the mass dance.

With the emcee being quite humourous, the entire evening turned out to be quite well done! Almost everyone walked out with a lucky draw prize, and I personally won a Mistral 5 litre Airport.

Ah, what a night! =)
