My First Half Marathon!

26 May 2012, the day I have been waiting for ever since the beginning of December last year. After half a year of anticipation, the day finally came. One day after my 26th birthday.

Honestly speaking, I was not prepared at all, even right up to the point when I was waiting to be flagged off. And what made things worse was that my friend who signed up with me could not make it in the end. I felt mentally and physically unprepared because I have never ran anything more than 11km before, but I told myself to run 10km continuously (which I have been able to), and just do the best for the rest of the way.

Thank goodness the organisers changed the flag-off timing for the half and full marathon to the same time, so I had the boyfriend and his friends' company all the way till it was time to begin!

The boyfriend and I before the race

And so I ran non-stop for 14km before I slowed down to a crazy snail's pace because my knees were aching and my feet were threatening to cramp up. In total, I think I walked less than 15 minutes.

At my last km, the wind got fierce and it started to drizzle, and when I was left with about 500m, it poured like mad but the rain was good. It cooled me down and somehow gave me the extra boost I needed to sprint the rest of the way to the finishing line.

And so, for my very first half marathon, I crossed the finishing line at 2 hours 31 minutes!

Yup, I definitely beat the sunrise! This is my first and definitely not my last half marathon! =)

Happy Birthday To Me =)

At the stroke of midnight, I received an SMS from the boyfriend wishing me happy birthday and telling me to open my door for him. It was a huge surprise because I was only expecting to see him after work on Friday evening for my birthday dinner!

So, the boyfriend came with a big hug, half a dozen cupcakes from Twelve Cupcakes, and a present: a Polaroid camera!

Despite the rain, the boyfriend asked, "Shall we go for ice cream?", and so we did! Off to Upper Thomson's Udders we went!

The night ended on a sweet note because of dessert and the next day was full of anticipation for dinner! The boyfriend refused to tell me the venue for dinner and I only found out right at the doorstep of the venue!

LEVEL33!!!!! It was my first time there, and so was his! So we had a great time experiencing something for the first time together! The view from the top was really very spectacular, and it was a pity that the outside seating were fully booked way in advance.

On to food and drinks!

My Sour Fizz

His Lager

Warm bun with plain butter, cherry butter and mint butter

I totally love the cherry butter which was sweet and yummy! The mint butter was good too, as it had a good minty punch to it.

As we were savouring the bun and yummy butters, our mains came and they looked SO GOOD that I was so eager to dig in!

His: Pork - Chargrilled beer brined Kurobuta, potato date gratin, celeriac remoulade, plum chutney, apple and wild mushroom jus

Mine: Gnocchi - Slow braised lamb shoulder, potato pasta, pine nuts, cranberry, port jus, crumbled goat cheese and fried sage

The boyfriend's pork was pretty delicious, but my gnocchi was the bomb! The shredded lamb was soft yet chewy at the same time, and was packed with (a familiar) flavour that made it hard to stop even though my stomach was bursting midway through the dish. I would seriously go back for this!

When we were full and done with dinner, we walked out to the open area for some pictures, and boy was it really beautiful!

When we went back to our table, I realized that there was a huge mirror above us, which made it really good for reflection shots!

The boyfriend made some arrangements with the management of LeVeL33, and look what came, with compliments from LeVeL33!!!

Thank you love, for making my 26th yet another memorable one, just like last year. =)

There's A First For Everything

The Boyfriend recently signed up for a lot of different physical activities other than the usual marathons that he's so used to. Over the weekend that just passed, he had a swimming event that was held at Tanjong Beach, Sentosa.

Because I wanted to support him, and because I have not been to the beach in the longest time ever, I went with him!

After his event, we chilled at the bar with his friends, and we managed to get a mild tan! I have not had the time to bake in the sun for years, and boy this felt really good!

In the evening, he brought me to Fort Canning Park where we caught a play, Shakespeare in the Park - Twelfth Night. That was my first time watching a play whilst being so close to nature, coupled with the mini picnic we had.

The play was a little profound, but still good nonetheless. Thank you baby, for this birthday present part I. =)

Awesome Weekend!

The weekend that just went by was one of the most eventful weekend I've had with the boy. On Saturday night, we went to Russell Peters' Notorious 2012 World Tour!!! This was the boy's 1st Anniversary gift to me. THANK YOU!

3 out of 4 sides of the Singapore Indoor Stadium was used for the show, and it was FULL HOUSE. With each ticket being 3-digits, just imagine the amount of sales made from just one night's show!

Russell Peters was notoriously funny. I practically laughed non-stop from the beginning to the end! TOH-tally worth it!

Headed back to the boy's place right after the show because he was having his first ever triathlon the following day.

A totally unedited picture other than the watermark placed.

The Boyfriend before entering the sea for a short splash-about before the event.

And then the event began! In the chronological order of a 750m open-water swim, 20km cycle, and lastly a 5km run.

After he surfaced from the water, en-route to cycling!

After cycling, just before he began his run

AND HE FINISHED!!!!!

Considering this was his first ever triathlon, I feel that he did great! Congratulations love! =D

We Are One!

Just like that, we've been together for 1 year. In just 1 year, we've been through a lot of ups and downs and I am glad we survived the last hurdle that just passed.

Anyway, the boyfriend decided to bring me to Dempsey, and there were a few eateries he picked out. After reading reviews on those places which didn't have much favourable responses, we decided to give them a miss and I suggested Barracks instead, since we were already intending to head to Dempsey. It's our first time at Barracks, and boy was it GOOD!

We shared a Mocha, Old Fashioned American Sliders and Wild Truffled Mushroom Skinny Pizza. Everything was damn awesome, I don't even know where to begin describing!

The mini burger patty was so juicy and tasty, and despite it being palm-size, it was actually pretty filling! The truffle fries and sweet potato nibblets that came with the burger were super addictive!

And as for the pizza, I took a bite of it and I just went, "Mmmmmmm (chomp chomp chomp)". Seriously, no words needed, just eat!

Us being us, we never fail to take ridiculously stupid pictures, just for laughs.

Happy 1st Anniversary, baby. Thank you for the meal, and your love. =)
