Dean & DeLuca

Having read mixed reviews on Dean & DeLuca, I was quite apprehensive when I made the sudden suggestion to the boyfriend of going there for dinner this evening. However, my fears were for naught, as the first mouthful sent me to a land of oohs and ahhs and I found myself licking my lips to every bite savoured!

Berries & Flap Jacks

I am a dessert freak, and my friend raved about this dish before, so this was my number 1 choice. This was not a wrong choice, not at all! Just eating the pancake alone, sans cream, fruits and maple syrup, it was extremely soft and chewy at the same time, and bursting with flavour! And for many who know how I usually eat, would be shock to read this, but I managed through nearly 3 whole fat pancakes! It was THAT yummy!

American Country Breakfast

This dish was well executed too! I have no idea if those bad reviews were from people who were over critical, or they were just damn unlucky to have caught the chef on a bad day. I personally found the food at D&D to be really awesome!

And of course, when there is good food, there is babymeh!

BKK Day 5 - 18 June 2012

Final day in BKK,and although time was short, we managed to stuff a lot more food into our tummies than what would have been a normal day.

Earlier during the trip, when we were at MBK, I remember getting mad at the boyfriend because he wanted to find this particular Teppanyaki stall which he raved about from his last trip to BKK. On the last day, we went back to MBK for the boyfriend to get some last minute shopping done and again we tried our luck to look for the eatery.

AND OH HOLEY MOLEY! WE FOUND IT! The boyfriend was ecstatic like crazy and in we went without a beat.

Look at his happy face!

When I took my first bite, I understood why the boyfriend kept raving about it and was so insistent to find it. It was REALLY good and best of all, REALLY cheap! But as you know, diminishing returns always set in and I got a little sick of the food after awhile because all their items were essentially cooked in the same manner, using the same seasonings. But with that said, it was really good while it lasted!

I am a true blue sucker for Squeeze. If I could stay in BKK for a month, I would probably be able to try every single flavour offered at Squeeze. In a span on 2 hours, the boyfriend and I shared 3 cups of Squeeze. I was in Squeeze Heaven. LOL!

Not long later, it was time for us to head back to the hotel, where our transport would bring us to the airport.

Plonked our asses at Starbucks after checking in and had a Green Tea Frapp with Azuki red beans.

Goodbye Bangkok, I will see you again soon!

BKK Day 4 - 17 June 2012

The entire Day 4 in BKK was spent with D and her friends, and our 2 main destinations for the day was to Chatuchak followed by Terminal 21, a mall which had different country themes on each level.

The hungry monsters

On the way to Chatuchak!

Red Ruby dessert - my all time fave / Korean potato snack

Lunch - anything fried can never go wrong

As can be seen from the pictures, the mall is pretty cool and innovative. Even their toilets were awesomely themed! And the plus point was they had the Jap technology toilet bowl, where the bowl could help you to wash and air your ass! Even the toilet seat was comfortably warm but felt strange.

Spotted Squeeze at Terminal 21, and obviously me being me, could not resist it despite bursting at my seams from dinner!

Orange County

The boyfriend bought me this box of cupcakes just because I could not peel my eyes away from the showcase fridge and was ooh-ing and ahh-ing about how pretty they looked!

We got back to our hotel, savoured the cupcakes together with the alcohol we bought from the night before. Shiok.

And my damage for the day was just a small small haul, all from Chatuchak.

BKK Day 3 - 16 June 2012

Day 3 in BKK saw me with a massive haul and I considered that as an achievement because clothes do not usually scream out to me to buy them just like that. I have an odd shape body, which makes it extremely hard to buy clothes that fit me well.

I know of many people who MUST visit A&W whenever they go abroad ever since it closed down in Singapore, and my boyfriend is one of them. Lunch saw us at A&W, and the boyfriend was happy like what only.

It was a productive day for me because I managed to return to the hotel room with a truckload of purchases after just 4 hours.

After the afternoon shopping spree, we rested for a bit before meeting up with Dilys and her friends who arrived that evening. Settled dinner at a cafe in Baiyoke Sky Hotel.

We asked for a table for 6 and the waiter looked at our group and said, "(in Thai) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... (pointed at me) This one baby chair." The group burst into laughter, and I felt so embarrassed for a moment.

The cafe was like fine dining, but it was super cheap! With that kind of setting, ambience and food quality for that super cheap price, it is something that cannot be found in Singapore, or at least, not that I know of.

Babymeh and I in action!

Dil's friends.

After dinner, we made our way to the supermarket which was a good 15 minutes walk away. The night view in BKK was not too bad in my opinion.

The New iPad

Christmas is still a good 5-6 months away but my Christmas gift from the boyfriend came early, very early!

This is something I NEVER expected the boyfriend to get me because
1) It is mad expensive
2) I was still thinking if I really want it or should I really get it myself
3) No reason for the boyfriend to get me my Christmas gift THIS early

I was speechless when he pulled the box out of his bag after announcing, "I got something to give you." I think I went silent for quite a long while, and then I exclaimed, "Why??? It is so expensive!!!"

I think the boyfriend loves me more than I know. Thank you, Love, for this lovely surprise and super advance Christmas present! =)
