Adidas KOTR 2012 - singapore is all in

Just a week after Nike 10k event, D and I went for Adidas KOTR which was 16.8km. Strangely, the both of us felt totally not ready for the event and we were afraid that we would do badly for it. However, we surprised ourselves, or at least I surprised myself, considering the fact that the sun was blazing hot that morning, and I had an extremely stiff neck.

I like how there were 6 colours in total for the event singlet, 3 for men and 3 for women. I chose the Ultra Green because I am not a pink or purple person, and I really love the combination of the Ultra Green top.

On Sunday morning, J was very nice to come and get D & I from my place to the race event site. Thank you, J.

And off we went! The sun was terrible that morning, with the sky so clear and no cloud coverage, it was extremely hot and I am like a vampire who cannot run properly when there is sun. It was quite a torturous 16.8km because I drank too much water due to the heat, and I ended up with nasty side stitches which caused me to walk more than I expected.

I honestly thought my timing would be shit, like probably 2:15 or something. But when I was approaching the finishing point, I saw the timing on the board was just a minute past 2 hours, so I sprinted the rest of the way to the finishing line.

Freaking happy that I met my targeted time despite the weather!

And then there was another major event that was going on concurrently, and it was my boyfriend being in the Subaru Challenge. But that will be in a separate post, just for him. =)

Last Weekend In A Nutshell

A quick summary of what went on last weekend.

Saturday night found the boyfriend and I at Fat Cat for dinner, followed by a short chill out at Wimbly Lu next door.

We tried the famed Root Beet Cake and S'mores cake, paired with a Cafe Mocha.

The rootbeer cake was something really quite fascinating as the chocolate syrup was infused with root beer flavour of some sort. The S'mores cake was very very very rich, chocolatey rich! After slightly less than an hour, the place left my hair smelling greasy and horrible, but it really wasn't too bad a place to chill at.

The next morning, we went for our Nike 10km run event, and I really love the idea that Nike made it mandatory for every participant to wear only the event tee. The luminous green linings on the collar as well as the males' sleeves made everyone glow upon the breaking of dawn. What a pretty sight.

That evening, we went grocery shopping with D, and the 3 of us racked up a happy load in the trolley.

Hubalicious - Bob Blumer

My girlfriend gets invited to events frequently due to the nature of her job, and yesterday, I had the honour of attending the Hubalicious event with her which was held at The Jewel Box.

Yesterday's Hubalicious event featured Chef Bob Blumer, seven time Guinness World Record holder.

Dinner consisted of a 3-course meal, with wine pairings of Lindeman's Bin 95 Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Lindeman's Bin 45 Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, and Lindeman's Sweet Seasons Blancello 2010 respectively.

Deviled Eggs, Cucumber Shooters, Salmon Gravelox Rose

Steak Au Poivre

Cooked to perfection!

Pearls of Wisdom

During the dinner, Bob did a live demonstration of his second dish, the Steak Au Poivre, and he told a story with his demonstration, which at one point, required him to put on a fireman's suit. In all honesty, he looked quite hot in the fireman's suit. =p

Thanks for the invite, M. =)
